On November 6-8, 2015, Carolina Farm Stewardship Association will host their 30th annual Sustainable Agriculture Conference in Durham, NC. The Conference is a great time to learn from professionals about cutting-edge techniques and innovative programs and to connect with others who are just as passionate about rebuilding a healthy, local foodshed from seed to plate. Join farmers, health advocates, gardeners, homesteaders, agri-preneurs, ag-tivists, consumers and everyone in-between to learn, network, celebrate, and champion local and organic foods and farms. Farmers, chefs, and industry leaders convene on Oct. 12-13, 2015 in Winston-Salem, NC at the 4th Carolina Meat Conference to celebrate, network, and advance the niche meat resurgence. The Carolina Meat Conference, hosted by NC Choices, is a nationally-recognized event focused on bringing together independent meat producers, processors, James Beard award-winning chefs, scientists and field experts, industry buyers, and allied professionals for cutting edge exchange to promote success in niche meat markets. Hands-on workshops, whole animal butchery demos, and expert sessions combine for unmatched learning and networking opportunities. The 4th Carolina Meat Conference will take place at the historic Millennium Center in downtown Winston-Salem, NC. Conference attendees can expect more than twenty innovative  class sessions on diverse topics, pop-up butchery demos, special technical tracks for professionals, cutting-edge culinary and regulatory education, and many opportunities for social networking. Amy-Lynn Albertson,
NC SARE 2014 Outstanding Sustainable Ag Extension Educator

Amy-Lynn Albertson, Extension Agent from Davidson County, was named NC SARE Outstanding Sustainable Agriculture Extension Educator for 2014.  She has established two farmers markets in Davidson County and shown tremendous leadership in promoting sustainable agriculture throughout her service region.  She played the major leadership role in developing the successful Piedmont Farm School, an intensive seven month program that provides in-depth training to farmers in Davidson and six surrounding counties.  This project has since expanded to three farm schools across the state with others in the planning stages.  This program’s statewide impact on the agricultural community is significant and growing.
